Membership in the Scottish Rite is open to all Master Masons in good standing with their Blue Lodge.
If You Are a Blue Lodge Mason
To join the Scottish Rite you must:
- Be a Master Mason in good standing in a lodge recognized by the Grand Lodge of California;
- Complete a petition and include the appropriate fee; and
- Attend a “Reunion” where the Scottish Rite Degrees are conferred.
If You Are Not a Mason
Freemasonry welcomes members from all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Before you can join the Scottish Rite, you must first become a Master Mason in a Lodge which is a part of a Grand Lodge recognized by the Conference of Grand Masters in North America.
In California, to find a blue lodge near you, please visit the “Lodge Locator” section on the Grand Lodge of California website.
If you are outside of California please visit BeAFreemason.org or contact your local Scottish Rite Body to assist in locating a suitable Masonic lodge.
